HOUSTON, TX, December 4, 2018 – This relocation of Horizon Forest Products’ Houston Branch gives credence to the idea that “Everything is bigger in Texas”. By relocating to a branch with almost double the warehouse square footage, the Houston Branch will be able to provide wood products to their customers like never before. This move promises to make this branch more efficient & more equipped to handle the needs of this booming Texas region.
The Houston Branch of Horizon Forest Products is relocating from Pinemont Drive to its new home a couple miles down the road at 11850 Hempstead Highway, Suite 290. The increase from a 25,000 square foot warehouse to just about 41,000 square feet will allow the branch to keep up with demand and better organize the inventory available to their customers. This expansion will also allow the Houston Branch to stock more products that their customers need so that they can better provide to their growing customer base.
“At Horizon, we bill ourselves as The Hardwood Experts and this new location will set us up to be a hardwood flooring hub for products and knowledge,” said Alan Blake, Houston Branch Manager at Horizon Forest Products. “This new office & warehouse space will allow us to be more effective & efficient in providing what our customers are looking for.”
Even though the relocation of this branch is only a couple miles down the road from their previous location, the building is unlike any other warehouse in the surrounding area, including some of their local competitors. At their previous location on Pinemont Drive, they were working way over capacity. They struggled pulling orders quickly because the warehouse was overcrowded and lacked space inside needed to stage product. In fact, this overcrowded workspace eventually led to the branch having to find a public warehouse just to accommodate their overflow products!
“We are excited to see the Houston Branch move into a larger space,” said David Williams, Vice President of Horizon Forest Products. “Our business in Houston continues to grow and this will allow us to stock more of the products for our customers in that market.”
The new location on Hempstead Highway promises to not only relieve the pressure of overcrowding and inefficiency inside the warehouse, but also to improve the inefficiencies in their exterior operations as well! With 4 doors dedicated for customer use and 7 doors available for shipping and receiving, the branch will be able to load and unload product faster and more efficiently than they could have ever thought possible at their previous location.
