Keller, TX, November 19, 2018 – Horizon Forest Products has joined efforts with the Stepping Stones Foundation in Keller, TX to help a family of 5 children headed for foster care, live in a home they deserve. The Stepping Stones Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth in crisis throughout North Texas. With this family of 5 in need of a home, the foundation decided to reach out to local businesses, neighbors, and volunteers to help flip an abandoned, run-down home into a place of safety and security for these children.
Horizon Forest Products values its local community and saw this project as an opportunity to lend a hand. The donation of nearly $2,500 worth of prefinished flooring and preparation materials aided in the effort to complete this extreme home remodel in one week for a new family to start fresh.
“We were so proud to partner with Stepping Stones through one of our local dealers, The Floor Store of Keller, to help remodel this new family’s home,” said Matt Young, Dallas Branch Manager at Horizon Forest Products. “It was amazing to see how the entire community joined together and we were very blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible experience that made such an impact for these children!”
After the children’s father was sent to prison and mother was deemed unfit to provide safe childcare, the mother’s sister, Raven Stewart, stepped up without hesitation to provide for her nieces and nephews so that they would not end up in the foster care system. This new home provided by the Stepping Stones Foundation gave this new family a true home to grow in and Horizon Forest Products could not be more thankful to be a part of such a heartfelt cause.
